WPCC clubhouse, rondebosch cape town

New build.

lisa durell project architect - sketch design

employed by KMH Architects, 2003.

This is the initial sketch design for a new clubhouse for the Western Province Cricket Club.  The building was to be centred overlooking the cricket oval and the hockey astroturf, resulting in a pavilion building within the sporting landscape.

The sporting facilities dictated much of the massing of the building.  The clubhouse was therefore conceived as a contemporary composition of forms connected with rhythm and delight along a journey from either parking lot.  The journey through the building was developed so as to encourage the viewing of the different sporting codes, interactions with other members, socialising and the experience of the open landscape.  A treat within the city.
