about us - our motivation

lisa durell ARCHITECT is a design-focused architecture firm based in East London, committed to producing good architecture. We believe good architecture significantly increases the asset value of our Clients' properties, far exceeding the financial investment. We believe good design is therefore a worthy financial investment and we tirelessly pursue value-for-money solutions on our Clients' behalf. We also know that good architecture enriches peoples' lives.

Since architecture is the framework within which life occurs, we are not overly concerned with style, but rather with how architecture is able to generate lifestyle, and delight.

We set out to provide an excellent service to our Clients by maximising the potential of their property and their lifestyle, through crafted solutions.

We are aware that architecture is most successful when it allows people an opportunity to interact comfortably with nature and where the building itself harnesses nature (light, orientation, etc). We explore the interaction of nature with architecture and people thoroughly in our work.

about us - principle architect lisa durell

A Professional Architect and alumnus of Nelson Mandela University 1995, lisa also completed the Management Development Programme at the University of Stellenbosch Business School in 2001. lisa lectured Architecture and Design at CPUT in 2004 - 2005.

lisa durell has worked for a number of well established Cape Town architects including Stefan Antoni Architects (now SAOTA) and Rick Brown + Associates, KMH Architects, ACG Architects and Urban Designers amongst others, as well as firms in the Eastern Cape, since locating to East London in early 2014.

lisa durell ARCHITECT has experience in a wide range of sectors; including residential, hospitality, retail, interior, commercial, corporate education, schools, sport and community projects, urban design as well as heritage projects.
